What is Pilates?

Pilates, through its controlled, fluid movement of the body originating from a strong core, “develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind, and elevates the spirit.”  Our instructors are passionate about sharing the amazing difference Pilates makes on your body, mind, spirit, and life!

Who can benefit from Pilates?

Anyone! A certified instructor is trained to appropriately modify any exercise for various injuries or illnesses. So, anyone at any age and level of fitness can benefit from Pilates.

What are the benefits of Pilates?

Benefits of Pilates include but are not limited to: greater range of motion, increased flexibility, greater core strength, full body strengthening and toning, creation of long, lean muscles, back pain relief, improved circulation and posture, increased body awareness, increased coordination… and did we mention long, lean muscles?

What does a class/session look like?

Allonge’ offers both group classes and private & group equipment classes taught by certified classical instructors. Private Pilates sessions are either 30 or 50-55 minute individual, customizable, combination workouts on the Pilates equipment (reformer, high chair, Wunda chair, mat, Cadillac, weights, and magic circle).

 
 
 
 
I have been exercising for many years, walking, using various exercise machines, swimming and exercise videos. I’ve also done Pilates mat exercises at home but have never seen the results I wanted to achieve. All that changed in February 2016 when I found Allonge and had my first Reformer class. I was hooked! Since then I have taken reformer, chair and mat classes, and have I seen results? Absolutely!
